Lauren Alessandro Memorial Foundation

The Lauren Alessandro Memorial Foundation was created in honor of Lauren Alessandro, who tragically passed away in her sleep, from a cardiac dysrhythmia, at the young age of 37. We hope to keep Lauren’s memory alive by raising funds to do good and help others in her name.

Lauren (Macdonald) Alessandro was born and raised in West Roxbury. She was a loving wife, daughter, the best big sister to her three siblings and most importantly, a fun and loving “auntie snack snack” to her nieces.
Lauren was known for her kind heart, beautiful smile and her witty humor. Whether you needed a good laugh or a helping hand, she would always be there for you to turn to. Lauren, a nurse at Brigham and Women’s Hospital up until her sudden passing, dedicated her life to helping others. The foundation hopes to raise funds so that we can continue Lauren’s legacy of helping others as she did when she was here.

DONATIONS WILL SUPPORT

Infertility Costs

  • Lauren wanted nothing more than to become a mom, but she suffered from infertility. After enduring so many ups and downs, Lauren was finally able to get pregnant through IVF, but to her devastation, lost the baby due to it being an ectopic pregnancy. Most of us have either dealt with or know someone who is facing the same struggles. We can’t think of a better way to honor Lauren than by helping others get the miracle she so badly wanted. We hope to ease the financial burden by giving out funds to help with costs associated with infertility. There is no better gift than the gift of life!

Functional Medicine Costs

  • Chronic and complex medical symptoms can be detrimental to one’s quality life, and can sometimes require more than just modern medicine in order to get a diagnosis. Getting to the root cause of one’s symptoms is important in order to restore one’s health. Lauren, who suffered from a wide range of chronic and unexplained symptoms, had to resort to a functional medicine doctor in search of getting answers. We recognize that if someone’s symptoms do not fit a basic diagnosis, one is left to get answers on their own, often times seeking alternative medicine. Just the initial conversations, lab tests (etc.) are not covered by insurance and can add up quickly. We will be using funds to provide financial assistance to get the initial visit and testing done so that one can hopefully get a diagnosis and get back their quality of life.

Local Community Support/Sponsorships

  • Sponsor community events and sports leagues

  • Provide financial support to those facing unexpected tragedy/illness

Supporting Front Line Workers

  • Giving back to those who put others before themselves. We would like to show support for front line workers, who risk their lives to help others, by delivering care packages to show support and appreciation for all that they do.
